Bob Brown is a contemporary abstract artist.
A lifelong natural abstract artist, his paintings are pure color, primarily abstract. The thick impasto paint is laid on with a palette knife to create intense masses of vibrant color, creating dimension with brilliant shifts in hue and value rather than just local color. Born in New York City, Bob grew up in East Lansing, Michigan. Following University and the Armed Services, he began a long and successful career in motor sports launching his own motor sports marketing company in 1992. Interested in painting from an early age, Brown enrolled in a local art class in Charlotte, N.C. seeking relief from his 12-hour work days. Finding gratification in art, Bob continued painting and developing his love for bold colors and the abstract. After several cross country moves he settled in Boca Raton, FL and attended the Boca Raton School of Art for three years. During that time he won his first juried competition and his painting was exhibited at the Boca Raton Museum of Art. A local artist urged Bob to deepen his commitment to art and his career path shifted to painting. His work has been acquired by several private and corporate collectors and has hung in The Essex Hotel in New York City. Now a popular emerging artist, he has shown his work at Grace Galleries in Dania Beach and The Studio at Gulf and Pine in Anna Maria where owner and former Florida First Lady Rhea Chiles was among the first to recognize his work. His paintings have been described as fresh, new, fun, and brilliant. His recent show at The Studio, "Have You Tried Abstract ?" as a resounding success and collectors from both the U.S. and abroad made acquisitions for their collections. While his studio is in Boca Raton, he is frequently in New York City and Key West. FL.
